Passport and ID photo sizes — 35×45 mm and 2×2″
The most common resize job is a form: passport 35×45 mm (413×531 pixels at 300 dpi), the US 2×2 inch square (600×600), or an exam portal's own pixel box. The presets apply exact dimensions with crop-to-fill, trimming edges evenly from the center so the photo comes out precisely the size the form demands — frame your face in the middle before you upload.
Portals often want both a pixel size and a KB limit. Resize first to get the dimensions right, then run the result through Compress Image target mode to get under the KB cap.
Resize for Instagram, YouTube and the web
Every platform has its box: Instagram posts at 1080×1080, portraits at 1080×1350, stories at 1080×1920, YouTube thumbnails at 1280×720, Full HD at 1920×1080. The presets apply the platform's exact size with a centered crop, which is what profile pictures and thumbnails need.
For photos where nothing should be trimmed, run Fit mode instead: the whole image is kept, scaled to fit inside the size you type, and one side may come out slightly smaller than the box.
Pixels, percentages and blank sides
Type a width and the height follows automatically from the aspect ratio — or type both to fit inside a box, or switch to percentage and halve the image with 50%. Leave "Don't enlarge" on and images already smaller than your target pass through untouched, because upscaling cannot invent detail, only blur.
A 4000×3000 phone photo set to 1080 wide lands at 1080×810. The math is proportional, so batches of differently shaped photos each keep their own aspect.
Fit, crop or stretch — which one to pick
Crop to fill gives you the exact size you asked for and trims the overflow evenly from the edges — the choice for profile pictures, thumbnails and ID photos where the form wants exact dimensions.
Fit keeps every pixel of the original inside the box. Stretch forces exact width and height regardless of proportions and will visibly distort anything with a face in it — it exists for textures and test patterns.
Private resizing — on your device, offline
ID photos and application pictures are exactly the files that should not be uploaded to a resizing server. Everything here happens in your browser: dimensions are recalculated and pixels resampled on your CPU, and the results are written straight to your device. Once the page has loaded, resizing works even if your connection drops.
Free, unlimited, no watermark — up to 30 images per batch with a single ZIP download. To build a PDF from the results instead, JPG to PDF collects them into one document.
Frequently asked questions
What is 35×45 mm in pixels?
413×531 pixels at 300 dpi — the standard passport photo size. Pick the "Passport 35×45 mm" preset and the tool applies exactly those dimensions with a centered crop.
How do I resize a photo to 600×600 pixels?
Switch to Pixels, enter 600 in both width and height, and choose Crop to fill (the default for exact squares — the US 2×2 inch passport preset uses this exact size).
What size is a YouTube thumbnail?
1280×720 pixels (16:9). The preset applies it with a centered crop so the thumbnail fills the frame.
What is the Instagram post size?
Square posts are 1080×1080, portrait posts are 1080×1350, and stories and reels are 1080×1920. All three are one click away in the presets.
What is a 4×6 photo in pixels?
1200×1800 pixels at 300 dpi — the preset uses Fit mode so the whole photo is kept at print proportions.
Can I resize without losing quality?
Making images smaller keeps them sharp — detail is discarded, but what remains is crisp. Making them larger cannot invent detail; upscaled photos turn soft, which is why "Don't enlarge" is on by default.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No — files never leave your device. Images are read from your disk, resampled on your CPU, and saved back — and after the page loads it works offline.
Is it free? Is there a watermark?
Free, unlimited, no watermark, no account. Batch up to 30 images at once and download them all as a ZIP.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes — any modern mobile browser. Pick photos from your library, resize, and save the results.
Can I resize and hit a KB limit at the same time?
Resize first to fix the dimensions, then run the result through Compress Image in Target size mode to get under the portal's KB cap. Two steps, both on this site.
